Working Crew Lead
Full-Time | Field Operations | Bristow, VA
Nova Scapes is a locally owned landscaping and hardscaping company serving homeowners across Northern Virginia since 2013. We build outdoor living spaces, install paver patios and retaining walls, and maintain residential properties in Bristow, Gainesville, Haymarket, Manassas, and the surrounding communities.
We are hiring a Working Crew Lead to join our team full-time. This is a hands-on field role with added responsibility. You will work alongside the crew, demonstrate proper installation techniques on-site, handle material pickups and supply runs throughout the day, and keep jobs moving from start to finish.

What You Will Do
On-Site Leadership and Crew Support
- Work on residential landscaping and hardscaping job sites across Northern Virginia daily
- Demonstrate installation techniques to crew members on-site, including paver patios, retaining walls, walkways, and outdoor living features
- Assign and adjust daily tasks based on crew capacity and job progress
- Coach crew members on doing the work right, not just fast
- Hold the crew accountable to quality, cleanliness, and Nova Scapes standards
Materials, Errands, and Daily Logistics
- Pick up materials and supplies from local suppliers throughout the workday to keep crews on schedule
- Verify delivery accuracy and flag any shortages or issues to management
- Track material usage and help minimize waste on each job
- Keep company trucks, trailers, and equipment organized and ready
- Handle time-sensitive supply runs that keep jobs from losing momentum
Communication and Coordination
- Serve as the direct link between the field crew and the office
- Keep management informed of job progress, material needs, and any issues before they grow
- Interact professionally with homeowners when on-site and represent Nova Scapes well
- Communicate clearly and directly, whether things are going smoothly or not
Quality and Safety
- Maintain Nova Scapes quality standards on every job
- Conduct daily jobsite safety walkthroughs and address hazards immediately
- Ensure crew members use PPE and follow safe work practices
- Leave every jobsite clean, organized, and ready for the next day or final walkthrough
What We Are Looking For
Required
- 2 or more years of hands-on experience in landscaping, hardscaping, lawn care, or a related outdoor trade
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (you will drive company vehicles and make supply runs)
- Some experience guiding or leading a crew, even informally
- Strong reliability and communication skills
- Ability to stay organized and adapt when the schedule changes
Preferred
- Hands-on experience with paver installation, retaining wall construction, or hardscape features
- Familiarity with suppliers and supply houses in Northern Virginia or Prince William County
- Experience operating compact equipment including skid steers or mini excavators
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift 50 or more pounds regularly
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions, including summer heat
- Able to stand, kneel, bend, and perform physical labor throughout the full workday
